Kazeti German Shepherds - Exhibitors and breeders of long coat German Shepherds
Firstly welcome to our web site, we hope your visit is enjoyable
and gives you an insight into what you can expect from me, which will in turn help you realise the type of home I endeavour to find for my beautiful puppies.
I am Karen and was granted my breeders and exhibitors affix of 'Kazeti' from the UK Kennel club in 2004. I have been a licenced breeder with my local council for 3 years now which means I also have to abide by their strict rules too, which I believe is in the interests of the dogs.
Many people wonder how we decided on Kazeti, we wanted our affix to be very personal both to us and our dogs, so we decided to make it up using letters from the names of our wonderful shepherds.
I am a small breeder hoping to breed 3-4 litters of excellently bred German Shepherds per year. Everything is fully health tested, with hips and elbows being scored, my own cut off point on hips is 20, with the breed average being only 19, so I am very strict with the dogs I use. I also believe on elbow scoring and will not use anything with a score of over 1. All the males are haemophilia tested clear, this is something that does not affect females. My dogs are DNA profiled to prove parentage and I am now testing against DM (degenerative myelopathy) and both Xen and Yoschi are clear.
My puppies are born and fully raised in the house, and are not left alone day or night for the first 14 days. They are handled from day one and mix and interact with our adult dogs too. They love to join in with the household activities and think chasing a mop or broom around is great fun. They leave happy to go straight into a home and are not worried about noise, or normal household activities. They also love to help unload the washing machine.
They leave well handled, confident, socialised and well
used to all household activities including my grandson Sam who practically moves in when we have puppies as its his "job" to look after them.
At Kazeti we pride ourselves in the quality of our dogs.
By using some of the best bloodlines available in the UK and internationally, We can ensure that we produce good quality puppies with outstanding temperaments which have been bred from low hip scoring parents, giving you a lifelong, healthy, loving companion.
I have been a member of the Kennel Club Assured Breeders Club for many years, but through my
own beliefs I have now cancelled my membership. I strongly believe that health testing is in place for a reason and should have a strict cut off point. This is not the case with the
KCABS, as long as dogs are health tested they will happily register them regardless of the results. In doing this a breeder can convince the unsuspecting public that they are an ethical breeder with
Kennel Club approval. In principle the Assured Breeders Scheme is a great idea, but i see no point in forcing health testing unless they are going to use the results to the betterment of the breed
and by ignoring the results they are not doing this. I have cut my own lines in the past when I have encountered a health issue, and believe as a responsible breeder this is what you should
do. People buy puppies in good faith and want a healthy pet for a very long time, It is my duty to ensure I do everything in my power to make this possible.
